The Gaslamp Killer is accused of raping two women in 2013.
Flying Lotus appeared to defend The Gaslamp Killer at a Los Angeles show on Saturday night (October 14) following recent rape allegations levelled against his former Brainfeeder label mate.
Performing at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Flying Lotus closed his set with a Gaslamp Killer track, before telling the audience: “The internet is a fuckin’ liar. Ain’t nobody judge and jury but the fuckin’ law, okay?… Thank you guys so much for coming, let truth and justice have its day.”
Last week, Twitter user @chelseaelaynne accused The Gaslamp Killer of drugging and raping her, along with her friend RaeAn, in 2013.
“The Gaslamp Killer drugged my best friend and myself at a party at the Standard Hotel, had non-consensual sex with both of us while we were completely incapacitated, and then dumped us back in front of the standard after it happened,” read her statement.
The Gaslamp Killer, aka, William Bensussen, posted a statement to Twitter in which he denies the allegations, insisting he would “never hurt or endanger a woman.”
Brainfeeder also issued a statement after the allegations surfaced, claiming it “did not have any knowledge of the alleged incidents, and condemn any such actions across the board.” The label emphasized that it hasn’t released any Gaslamp Killer music in over five years and that the producer is not currently signed to Brainfeeder.
Last June, Flying Lotus was accused of trivializing rape, after he likened rappers who “take advantage” of producers to rapists.
The KUSO artist is yet to clarify his comments on social media.
