Olde English Spelling Bee this week releases new LPs from Autre Ne Veut and Big Troubles.

Both could be described as disjointed pop records, but there the similarities end. Autre Ne Veut’s self-titled album draws sincere and straight-faced upon plastic 80s soul and AM-friendly synth-pop, effervescent but deeply weird harmonies riding densely clustered neo-tribal drums that recall Forest Swords, LA Vampires, early Animal Collective et al.

Big Troubles’ Worry follows their recent single for OESB, and is a well-judged, C-86-derived hail of guitar jangle and distortion that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Ariel Pink and Real Estate.

Digital editions of both albums are available now; the vinyl is available from tomorrow, Friday 3 September. For more information, videos and other details, click here.
