Rockie Fresh shares The Birthday Tape, featuring Rick Ross, Gunplay, Lunice

The Maybach Music Group newcomer also raps over James Blake’s ‘Life Round Here’.

To celebrate his 21st birthday, Chicago’s Rockie Fresh has released a seven-track effort entitled The Birthday Tape. Along with the previously-shared ‘Panera Bread’ (which features Rick Ross and production by Lunice), the tape features MMG madman Gunplay on ‘Rollin’ and finds Rockie rapping over James Blake’s Overgrown cut ‘Life Round Here’, becoming the latest rapper to sample the British singer.

Apart from the orchestral opener ‘Top Of The World’ and the trap-fest ‘Panera Bread’, the mixtape is a relatively subdued affair, with Rockie trying out a Futuristic Autotune on ‘Nothin’ Wrong With That’, getting romantic on weed rap ‘Kush Do’, and paying tribute to Chicagoan forebearer Common on the Stateless-sampling outro.

Download the mixtape now. Rockie released the full-length tape Electric Highway earlier this year.
