World Unknown, the ever-discerning and increasingly popular London party dedicated to the noble art of “throbbing electronic music for dancing”, returns to a secret location in Brixton this Friday, 14 May.

The centrepiece of the night, which runs 11pm-5am, is a live performance from Gold Blood, an up-and-coming synth-punk (in a good way) outfit who have been winning props all over the shop for their Twilight Language EP on Human Shield (run by Heartbreak’s Ali Renault).

But for us the focal point of WU will always be the turns from resident DJs Andy Blake and Joe Hart, with their ultra-tasteful but floor-friendly selections of acid, new beat, EBM, electro, dark balearic and synth-driven business of all shapes and stripes. Blake was the brains behind the sorely missed Dissident label, and his latest venture is Cave Paintings, an imprint dedicated to raw analogue dance gear. Click here for a bunch of mixes from Andy and Joe, fine adverts for the kind of soundtrack to expect on the night, and superlative ‘pod fodder in and of themselves.
