This month sees the reissue of the self-titled 1979 album by Laser.
A shortlived disco outfit hailing from Kamen, Germany, and comprising members Charly Schade, Wolfgang Hermes, Van Heyningen and Tjon Ajong, Laser released only the one LP, via the largely rock-centric Decca imprint. It features nine tracks including the hi-NRG/italo club smash ‘His Name Is Charly’, and has earned serious cult status among disco heads over the past thirty years – original copies go for around £50.
So thank god for this vinyl reissue, which is affordably priced and retains the saucy cover art of the ’79 edition (detail pictured above). Nine glitterball classics and a soft-focus lady’s bum? Score. More info and samples here.
