To coincide with the recent release of Gilles Peterson‘s Havana Cultura Remixed compilation, the Barbican is hosting an evening of Cuban music that takes in Latin, hip-hop, funk, reggaeton and R&B flavours: Havana Cultura Live New Cuba Sound.
At the core of the programme is Roberto Fonseca’s band, which on this occasion will include master reedsman Javier Zalba and bassist Omar Gonzalez, as well as Ramses Rodriguez, Joel Hierrezuelo, Vince Vella and of course Gilles Peterson himself. There will also be an appearance from Cuban star Danay, whom Peterson has described as Cuba’s answer to Jill Scott.
The concert kicks off at 7.30pm on July 6; for more information and tickets, click here.
We’ve got a pair of tickets and a pair of Havana Cultura Remixed CDs to give away to one FACT reader; if you’d like to be entered into the draw, simply e-mail your name and the word ‘Havana’ to competitions@vinylfactory.com.
