Our friends and neighbours Phonica Records are throwing one of their big-hitting annual parties in London next Saturday, 3 July.
Headlining is France’s I:Cube, boss of Versatile Records, one half of Chateau Flight and superlative DJ, expertly traversing the cutting edge of house, disco and techno. Joining him will be acclaimed junglists-turned-dubsteppers Instra:mental, plus Space Dimension Controller (live; pictured), Midland and Dexter (live).
Dexter, best known for his early noughties electro classic ‘I Don’t Care’, is founder of the Klakson label and has been enjoying a resurgence of late, producing one of the year’s biggest techno anthems in ‘Redlight’. Midland is a friend and collaborator of Ramadanman who is set to make a big impression in 2010, with a new release coming on Phonica Records backed with a piledriving Dexter remix.
Since creating his timeless FACT mix at the start of the year, Belfast’s Space Dimension Controller has become one of the most talked-about youngsters in electronic music, with a warm, melodic and sophisticated house sound that belies his tender age and which has seen him record for Rotterdam’s peerless Clone Records.
Support comes from the all too capable Phonica DJs: Simon Rigg, Benedict Bull, The Vangelis, SOHO, Raimo, Sam Relleen and Nick Williams; the venue is Corsica Studios and the tickets are available here. The party marks a vintage year for the Soho-based record store, which has recently branched out from its main Phonica label with two new imprints: the Phonica White series and bass-wise Local Action.
