OK, so the piano riff is ripped straight from Jeff Mills’ ‘Changes of Life’, which Bulgaria’s KiNK would surely admit himself that this track is a direct reworking of, but will you hear anything more uplifting, joyful and musically on point than ‘Existence’ this year?

Like Erik and Fiedel’s ‘Nous Sommes MMM’, ‘Existence’ excels on the basis of sheer craftsmanship. It’s built for peak-time to an almost comic extent, but those skipping drums, the synths that trickle down the sides of the track’s second half, those little switch-ups during the mid-section – it’s all done with such finesse, and it’s arguably more palatable than the constant thump of Mills’ track. You can’t just sit down and decide to make a club banger this immaculate, and that’s why everyone from Hot Chip to Jackmaster have picked up on it. We all know come September you’ll probably be bored of ‘Existence’, but that’s all the more reason to lose yourself in it while you can.
