Radio 1Xtra DJ Benji B’s Deviation has a Carnival special lined up for August 29, and dare we say it, it looks pretty special.
Headlining is UK dance music legend DJ Zinc, a key part of the country’s jungle and garage scenes who’s recently been making waves with his “crack house” productions, working with Ms Dynamite, Benga and more. He’ll be playing a Back to ’95 jungle set.
He’ll be joined by fellow members of the Rinse FM family Geeneus, Katy B and Tippa, while 2step hero Noodles, who runs the Groove Chronicles label and recorded some of the greatest garage records of all time alongside El-B, will be playing a classic garage set. Martelo is also on board to spin a hip-hop set.
Residents Benji B and MC Judah will be joining in the fun, playing a Carnival-themed set. The magic (we hope) will happen at the Basement of CAMP, a new venue on City Road, just off Shoreditch’s Old St Roundabout. Entry is £10 all night, doors open from 10pm-5am.
