Amsterdam’s Rush Hour label this month releases The Godson & Soul Edge, a limited edition CD compiling Rick Wilhite‘s classic EPs for KDJ with bonus tracks.

Soul Edge and The Godson were originally released in small quantities on Moodymann’s KDJ imprint in 1996 and 1997 respectively, and the vinyl was notoriously hard to get hold of until Rush Hour repressed both EPs last year.

The CD edition adds previously unreleased remixes of Wilhite and Moodymann, as well as a Wilhite unoriginal, ’30 days later’ and an Urban Tribe remix of ‘Good Kiss’ (taken from KDJ22).

As well as his solo excursions, Wilhite is known for his collaborations with Theo Parrish in Three Chairs. Parrish’s remix of ‘Get On Up!’ appears on The Godson & Soul Edge.
