Civil Music are laying on a discerning spread of live music and DJs at London’s Old Blue Last this Bank Holiday Sunday, 29 August.

Philadelphia street bass bossman Starkey headlines with a DJ set that will apparently draw heavily on his gloriously lopsided album Ear Drums & Black Holes. One of the most inventive and mind-bending party DJs we know, the chance to hear Starkey kill it in the intimate, sweat-on-the-walls environs of the OBL is not to be missed.

Performing live are Starlings, who make heartfelt, synth-driven psychedelia and Balearic pop overseen by Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve’s Richard Norris.

Elijah & Skilliam, Rinse FM regulars and architects of one of the best FACT mixes of 2010, are on board to demonstrate that the grime vanguard is alive and well, while Eglo Records boss Alexander Nut will doubtless deliver the kind of perfectly judged, low-slung hip-hop-techno-dubstep-whatever set that has made him among the capital’s favourite selectors this year.

Support comes from Civil Music DJs, Simon Goldshlager and Jamie Hodgson. The night runs 9pm-3am and tickets are only £5/£7. More info here.
