Japan’s Endless Flight label will release a 12″s next month featuring a 33-minute remix of Moebius, Plank, Neumeier by Ricardo Villalobos.
Conny Plank, Dieter Moebius (Cluster, Harmonia) and Manfred Neumeier collaborated on the1983 album Zero Set, a pulsating masterpiece that bridged the gap between 70s krautrock psychedelia and the then new age of synth-pop and industrial music. In 2007 Neumeier and Moebius recorded a sequel to that album, titling it Zero Set II, in tribute to the late Plank. It was released via Tokyo-based label Music Mine Inc.. The source material for the Villalobos remix is Zero Set II’s opening track, ‘Mango Solo’; his version clocks in it at a whopping 33:38, and is split up and spread across two sides of vinyl for the 12″ release.
A second 12″ is also on its way, featuring two versions of Zero Set II’s ‘Jiro’ by Norwegian disco kingpin Prins Thomas.
