The greatest techno label of them all, Metroplex, will commandeers Room 1 of London’s Fabric on Saturday 9 October.
Juan Atkins, Eddie ‘Flashin” Fowlkes and Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir (live) will all be making appearances in celebration of the Detroit imprint’s 25th anniversary.
Atkins is hugely active at the moment, with his Model 500 project touring extensively and releasing a new EP on R&S Records. Long the unsung hero of 313, Shake finally received the acclaim he was due when Rush Hour last year compiled some of his finest productions on Frictionalism. Fowlkes has been relatively quiet on the release front since the early 2000s, but he remains a DJ of incredible stature, and UK appearances from him are something of a rarity. Support comes from Keith Tucker of ghetto-electro heavyweights Aux88.
Room 2 finds Surgeon celebrating the launch of his Fabric mix CD; he’ll be playing an extended set, with support from Craig Richards and Kirk Degiorgio. Motor City Drum Ensemble and Terry Francis take care of Room 2.
If you’d like to enter our draw to win a pair of free tickets for the night, plus a copy of Surgeon’s Fabric CD, simply e-mail your name and the word ‘Metroplex’ to competitions@thevinylfactory.com. The winner will be notified on or before October 5.
