Legendary post-punk group Wire, who unlike many still going from that period, remain pretty interesting, have a new album due out on January 10.

Titled Red Barked Tree, it’s made up of all new material from the trio of Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey, with no guests. It promises to “rekindle a lyricism sometimes absent from Wire’s previous work and reconnects with the live energy of performance, harnessed and channelled from extensive touring over the past few years.”

Digital release date precedes the physical, and arrives on December 20. Those who buy it through Wire’s own mail order service will receive a free EP titled Strays, featuring “live favourites which have nevber achieved greatness as recorded artifacts.”

You can download a track from the album, titled ‘Two Minutes’, here.
