We’ve been seriously impressed with Becoming Real this year.
Real name Toby Ridler, the London-based producer and visual artist has been pulling in the weirder sides of juke, hip-hop, grime and dubstep into a twisted, minimal, haunted sound of his own. On his new single the Spectre EP, released on new Moshi Moshi imprint Not Even, he teams up with ex-Roll Deep member Trim for a pair of eski-influenced grime tracks. Juke icon DJ Rashad even turns up on remix duty.
You can pre-order the EP here, and stream the two original tracks below. And if you’re into what you hear, you should get yourself to Salem’s upcoming UK shows, which will feature Becoming Real as support.
Oh, and you can also download another pair of songs, ‘The Thing’ and ‘South London Congo’ at his Bandcamp.
