Violence of Discovery & Calm of Acceptance is the new album by Rafael Toral, his first for the UK’s Touch imprint.

The Portuguese experimentalist has been described by the Chicago Reader as “one of the most gifted and innovative guitarists of the decade”, and counts Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Jim O’Rourke among his admirers. He has collaborated with those artists as well as the likes of John Zorn, Phill Niblock and Rhys Chatham, and is also part of the MIMEO group with Fennesz, Peter Rehberg and others.

Crafted “using guitars and analogue technology”, Violence of Discovery… is comprised of ten short tracks recorded over the past seven years. The Touch edition is a CD designed by Jon Wozencroft with photography by Heitor Alvelos. More information here.
