Brighton regular The Outer Church tends to feel less like a gig or club night and more like a…séance. If you like a healthy dose of the uncanny with your pint of mild, then it’s the place for you.

Past editions have seen performances from the likes of Mordant Music, Position Normal, Hong Kong In The 60s,  Moon Wiring Club and pretty much every other hauntologist worth their salt, invariably with a strong visual dimension to each set. The visual takes centre-stage for the next Outer Church, tonight, Thursday 13 January, at Komedia. The OC will be presenting two films by cult US director Graham Reznick, in association with Aphasia Films and Glass Eye Pix. The feature length I Can See You is billed as a “psychedelic campfire tale”, while 3D short The Viewer was described by the New York Times as “a telepathic interrogation experienced from the perspective of a suspected murderer.” Crikey.

There’ll also be live performances from The Haxan Cloak (multi-instrumentalist Bobby Krlic) and The Larsen Effect, the latter accompanied by imagery from Jade Boyd (who has previously worked with Actress, among others). Tickets are just £4; more information here.
