Four Tet and Caribou have contributed a track apiece to a new split 12″ on the former’s Text Records label.

The Four Tet track is called ‘Pinnacles’, and is a lush, almost trancey disco-house groove with lots of pianos and pinging synths; very simple in its essence, but beautifully crafted, and highly addictive. Dan ‘Caribou’ Snaith adopts a new alias, Daphni, for his track,  ‘Ye Ye’ – heads-down techno growler that has to be one of his best, and least fussy, productions of recent years.

Text Records was established by Kieran Hebden in 2001, but spent much of the noughties on ice. Since 2008 there’s been a steady stream of releases once more, including 2009’s Burial + Four Tet 12″, ‘Moth’ / ‘Wolf Cub’.
