Stones Throw head Peanut Butter Wolf recently remarked that for his label, every day was Record Store Day.

It seems that wasn’t an empty threat, either. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the label, home of Madlib, Dam-Funk, J Rocc and many more, select Stones Throw artists will be performing at the Capsule Labs studio/pressing plant in Los Angeles. As they perform, their shows will be recorded live, directly to vinyl in real time. The sets will be 15 minutes in length, during which the records will be mixed and mastered. There will be 500 units pressed with no CD or digital copies being manufactured or sold.

The first of these direct-to-vinyl performances takes place on April 14, and sees sets from crooner Mayer Hawthorne, and jazz band Rick. Peanut Butter Wolf will DJ between the two.

Tickets will be given away, rather than sold – for more details, keep your eyes on the Stones Throw website and social networking tools [via Prefix].
