Chris Ward’s production project Tropics is back with his first release of 2012.

Ward’s first two EPs for Planet Mu, Mouves and Soft Vision, set out his model of shoegaze-indebeted electro. Last year’s Parodia Flare LP was a pleasant set of viscous instrumentals and songs, although one that was arguably too one-note to really get the pulse racing.

XLR8R report that Ward has made a lateral step onto Svetlana Industries – previously home to similarly groggy beatmakers Teebs and Kelpe – for his latest EP, Popup Cinema. The three-track EP arrives next month, and promises an emphasis on bare-bones vocal samples.

The title track – a featherweight piece of microhouse, full of chopped and stitched vocal snippets – is available to stream below. Popup Cinema will trundle into town on November 5.

Tracklisting:
1. Popup Cinema
2. Ophelia
3. Invitation
