Omarion lays out the first taster here of his forthcoming full-length Love and Other Drugs with this seductive half-tempo cut.

While the singer may have had a bizarre roller-coaster of a career so far, it seems he’s experienced a new lease of life since being snapped up by Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group in 2012. Last year’s Care Package EP was inexplicably good, and his woozy collaboration with Wale ‘M.I.A.’ (that also appeared on the underrated Self Made Vol.2 compilation) was easily one of the year’s most unexpected highlights.

Blending his signature mid-00s R&B wail with the kind of low-tempo electronic melancholy that Drake has managed to make his call-sign, Omarion makes a good case for Love and Other Drugs‘ credibility with ‘Paradise’, which hops from syrupy Houston-style raps to emotive sex-jam vibes in the drop of a hat. Even so, while Omarion might be getting all hot under the collar, there’s an undeniable sadness to the track that makes it sort of sound like he’s actually sitting in a bedsit with a box of Kleenex and a tear in his eye.
