The return of Sebadoh and an unusual hip-hop-meets-rock collaboration are this week’s picks from NPR.

British rock veteran Elvis Costello and hip hop band The Roots have followed up their strident first single ‘Walk Us Uptown’ with a full stream of the boldly orchestrated forthcoming album Wise Up Ghost, which pairs Costello’s inimitable vocals with the Jimmy Fallon house band’s bass-heavy bumping funk. The album is out on 17 September – hear it over at NPR now.

Also streaming is the first album in 14 years from caustic scuzz-rock veterans Sebadoh, the band led by Dinosaur Jr.’s Lou Barlow. Defend Yourself is also out on 17 September – head here for that one too.
