Dilla reissued, again.
J Dilla acolytes rejoice: you can now own his classic album Donuts all over again thanks to Stones Throw, which is releasing a 10th anniversary version of the LP on vinyl.
Originally released on February 7, 2006 – three days before his death from the incurable blood disease TTP – Donuts was made with a Boss SP-303 sampler and small record player from his hospital bed, and has since passed into hip-hop legend.
It’s certainly not the first time Donuts has been reissued, but its considerable legacy means there will always be demand for new versions. Stones Throw’s 10th anniversary edition offers the original Jeff Jank artwork on a 2LP gatefold sleeve, complete with liner notes from Donuts 33 1/3 author Jordan Ferguson.
It’s available now from the Stones Throw store. While you wait for that, listen to J. Rocc’s recent all Dilla mix for Discogs. [via The Vinyl Factory]
