It’s what they would have wanted.

The X Factor is planning to pay tribute to Prince and David Bowie by hosting special theme weeks during the 2016 series.

According to The Sun, contestants will cover songs from the late artists’ repertoire if producers can be convinced before the next series begins in three weeks.

It’s been reported that both Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell are behind the plans. A source claims that Walsh thinks it would make “a fitting tribute,” while Cowell said three years ago that Bowie had turned down his invitation to appear on the show.

“Why Bowie? He’s a legend. He’s a great songwriter, he has massive influence on music today and he’s 100 per cent credible,” Cowell said at the time.

The X Factor will return to ITV during the last weekend of August.

Now, can somebody bring back Stars In Their Eyes please?
