The Moon and Black Swan composer joins the much-hyped manga movie.

Clint Mansell is scoring the new live action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell, starring Scarlet Johansson.

Director Rupert Sanders revealed the news at a media event in Tokyo this weekend, said Film Music Reporter. The first full trailer for the movie, based on the classic Japanese manga, appeared yesterday, soundtracked by KI Theory’s remix of Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’.

Mansell has also been working on Duncan Jones’ next film, a sci-fi thriller called Mute starring Sam Rockwell and Alexander Skarsgard, and was behind the score for High Rise, Ben Wheatley’s recent J.G. Ballard adaptation.

FACT recently spoke to Mansell about his unexpected journey from Pop Will Eat Itself frontman to Hollywood composer, his lengthy collaboration with director Darren Aronofsky, and why film scores are mostly “tasteless people making tasteless music”.
