Next week, Soul Jazz will reissue Roy Ayers’ Lots of Love on CD and vinyl.

Originally released on Ayers’ own Uno Melodic label in ’83, and recorded around the time of Ayers productions like ‘Eighties Ladies’ and ‘Sylvia Striplin’, Lots of Love is one of Ayers’ more wide-reaching releases, playing with Afrobeat, boogie and more. It also includes ‘Chicago’, a touchstone for Theo Parrish, Kenny Dixon Jnr. and more.

Remastered from the original master tapes, the CD comes in a “mini-box-pack”, which makes it sound more like a multi-pack of raisins you’d send a kid off to school with than something that contains music, but either way. The CD set comes with limited edition postcards, and the vinyl in “super-load, super-heavyweight gatefold-sleeve double vinyl.”
