Okay, this is actually quite cool. Canadian indie torch-bearers The Arcade Fire have a new single due out.
That, on it’s own, isn’t that cool. But what is neat is that over on The Arcade Fire’s website, you can stream samples of the single – the catch is, you have to manually spin the digital record yourself. Which also means you can let it grind to a halt when you’re bored, and you can rewind it if you get too excited. You don’t get that on iTunes, do you?
To switch from A-side ‘The Suburbs’ to B-side ‘Month of May’, simply change which track title is highlighted below the record. On first impressions, ‘Month of May’ sounds weirdly like Queens of the Stone Age, while the jangly ‘Suburbs’ is closer to standard Arcade Fire fare, but without the strings. In fact, it puts us in mind of the last Fiery Furnaces album.
‘The Suburbs’/’Month of May’ is due out in the next couple of weeks; the third Arcade Fire album is expected later this year.
