Fans design the covers on Florence + the Machine's Record Store Day 7"

Florence + the Machine have announced details of a limited Record Store Day 7″.

It’s a bit more than just a record, however. 100 copies of ‘Only if for a Night’ have been pressed, each with an individual sleeve. 50 of the sleeves were designed by fans following a contest earlier this year, and the other 50 were designed by “a host of guest contributors”, including Florence herself. On April 18, the sleeves will be displayed for three days at London’s Generation Gallery, though the exhibition won’t feature information on who designed which sleeve.

Then, on April 21 – a.k.a. Record Store Day – each 7″ will be available for a minimum donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust of £40 on a first come first served basis.

It’s not the only limited vinyl release Florence and her formidable machine have in the pipeline: she’s also got a deluxe 12″ due on The Vinyl Factory, featuring a remix by man of the moment Clams Casino. That’s available to pre-order here.
