Lil Wayne, last seen causing a ruckus at Drake’s bar mitzvah, has big news of his own.

According to MTV, the rapper is currently midway through a new LP. The record is titled Devol – which, as Wordwheel hounds will immediately have noticed, is the word ‘Loved’ spelled backwards. According to Wayne, “it’s my version of love songs”. The news emerged in an interview on American show ‘Hip Hop POV’, which aired in the early hours of this morning.

Over to Weezy: “What I mean by my version of love songs is meaning they’re not saying, ‘I love you,…It’s all material I did when I was locked up.” We’re hoping for an 808s And Heartbreak style exercise in introspection; then again, if Wayne’s ‘version of love songs’ resembles his version of rock songs, we might spend 2012 returning to our well-thumbed copy of The Carter III.

Lil Wayne’s last album was Tha Carter IV. The sequel to 2010’s I Am Not A Human Being LP is also expected to arrive later this year.
