One of the last century’s most venturesome musical minds is set to team up with one of this century’s most graceful.

Pitchfork report that minimalist legend Philip Glass and the songwriter/harpist Joanna Newsom will be appearing together on stage on June 25. The concert will take place at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco as part of Glass’ Days And Nights Festival. Glass and Newsom will also be joined by violinist Tim Fain, and the trio will play a selection of Glass’ tunes as selected by Newsom, and vice versa. A new devised piece will also get an airing. Proceeds from the show will be ploughed back into restoring Big Sur’s Henry Miller Memorial Library. The delightful flyer is below.

Glass has collaborated with a bunch of august rock’n’pop names in the past; David Byrne, David Bowie, Arthur Russell and Aphex Twin all feature in his Rolodex. If you’re not particularly au fait with Glass’ life and legacy, take a peep at FACT’s recent guide to his work.
