Crunchy Black, an erstwhile member of unutterably excellent Memphis rap combo Three 6 Mafia, is in hospital following a shooting.

Details are scarce at the moment, but the news that the rapper had been injured emerged yesterday. Crunchy Black, real name Darnell Carlton, was shot in Las Vegas under circumstances that still remain opaque. Black himself released the image below from his hospital bed, suggesting his recovery is well underway. Quite how and why the incident occurred remains a mystery.

Carlton joined Three 6 Mafia just before the release of their seminal 1995 debut Mystic Stylez. He appeared on all of the group’s subsequent records, until leaving the crew in 2006. Here’s wishing him well in his convalescence.
