It’s been announced that diminutive pop genius Prince will undertake a multi-date residence in Chicago, starting in late September [via Consequence Of Sound].

“Welcome 2 Chicago” follows similar strings of performances in New York and Los Angeles, and will see the R&B auteur play several dates at the city’s United Center from September 24.

The residency is in support of Rebuild The Dream, an initiative set up by activist Van Jones to reclaim the US economy from “the banks and the 1%”. For the duration of the residency, the venue will play host to “socially-conscious businesses, tech start-ups, entrepreneurs, and other innovators”, offering “specific tools that individuals and communities can use to improve their economic situation in the short- as well as long-term.”

Tickets for the September 24 show will go on sale on September 6, with the full list of shows to be announced shortly.
