Trent Reznor, Frank Black, Lars Ulrich share musical memories for Dave Grohl's Sound City documentary

Watch some clips from the Dave Grohl-directed documentary about the legendary recording studio.

As we saw in the teaser, a host of rock titans appear in Sound City. The following clips find some of these major names detailing their first musical memories.

Watch an affable Trent Reznor, Pixies frontman Frank Black, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, and a particularly-hermetic Rick Rubin below; Reznor’s earliest musical memories might surprise you.

Sound City‘s Youtube page also includes clips from rock luminaries Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Sabbath/Dio drummer Vinny Appice, Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk, and REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin.

Before closing in 2011, Los Angeles’ Sound City Studios operated for over 40 years, gaining a reputation as one of the world’s best recording studios. Albums by rock legends Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and Nirvana were recorded there, including Nirvana’s Nevermind. [via Antiquiet]
