The xx have announced the support players for the London leg of their Night + Day festival series.
Mount Kimbie are at once the best-known and most natural of the choices – there’s plenty of shared ground between their furtive electronica and The xx’s odes for the brittle. Anticipate material from the follow-up to 2010’s Crooks And Lovers, due later this year on Warp. According to Jamie xx, the pair were selected on account of their “beautiful use of space and melancholy, combined with a uniquely British sensibility to their music.”
Another key addition is Adam Bainbridge’s electro-pop project Kindness, picked on account of being “one of the most energetic and entertaining bands we’ve seen”. Also on the bill are AutoTune-loving, art-rock duo Poliça, responsible for last year’s Give You The Ghost LP. More acts are yet to be announced.
Night + Day will take place at London’s Osterley Park & House on June 23. Further shows are also planned at Lisbon’s Jardim da Torres de Belém on May 5 and Berlin’s Spreepark on May 18. Tickets and further information are available here.
