Update: both the Friday and Saturday nights of this weekend’s Playground Festival have now been cancelled, with the promoters announcing they’ve gone into administration.

Following news of the cancellation of this year’s Bangface Weekender, the organisers of Playground Festival have been forced to scrap both nights of this weekend’s planned event at Brixton Academy, which featured headliners including LeftfieldDigitalism, The Orb and Nathan Fake.

The promoters had previously tried to cancel just the Saturday and keep Friday night’s event going, but they have now released this statement:

ANNOUNCEMENT: We are sad to say that after much of a battle here we have been left with no option but to cancel the entire Festival. After poor ticket sales and an investor parting ways with us we weren’t able to rectify the matter.

Any tickets bought from Ticketweb, Resident Advisor, See Tickets, Skiddle, Stargreen, Wegottickets, Fatsoma, Artist Ticket, Groupon will be refunded immediately.

A limited number of Trackitdown tickets should be refunded immediately as they are holding a portion of funds here. Further announcements to be made about refunds and the status of the rescheduled 13th July event at KOKO.

After seven years of running events we appreciate all the support we have had so far although MEDIAGROUND LTD. Has been left with no option but to file for insolvency moving forward.
