Big coup for the team behind ratings-gobbling wail-athon The Voice USPharrell Williams has joined the show.

The Voice – which remains one of the highest-rated shows on US TV – has said goodbye to longtime judge Cee Lo Green. As NME report, producers have signed up man-meme Williams to take the Goodie Mob veteran’s rotating seat. Williams, who has previously appeared on the show as a guest mentor, will join the show’s seventh season later this year. The rest of the coaching line-up has yet to be announced.

Some PR bunkum from NBC Entertainment’s Paul Telegdy:

“It’s been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music — the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song ‘Happy’ and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit ‘Get Lucky.’ His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family.”

FACT recently totted up the 50 best Pharrell tracks of all time; Chris Kelly’s review/takedown of his new album G I R L, meanwhile, is here.
