The ‘Stand By Me’ singer dies at 76.

Ben E. King has died, according to the BBC. The R&B singer-songwriter began his career in 1958, joining doo wop group The Drifters. He sang on the group’s hits ‘There Goes My Baby’, ‘This Magic Moment’, ‘Save The Last Dance For Me’ and more.

He went solo in 1960 and soon sang ‘Stand By Me’, which topped the charts in both 1961 and 1987, when it was used as the theme song of the film of the same name.
