The Odd Future rapper implies the decision is a result of an ongoing feminist campaign.

Just over two years ago we reported on Australian feminist group Collective Shout attempting to revoke Tyler, The Creator’s visa, claiming his lyrics promoted misogyny and violence against women. Tyler then responded to the claims by calling campaign organizer Talitha Stone a “cunt” and “fucking whore” at a show while she was in attendance. Her group may have had the last laugh, though, because it looks like their campaign has finally been successful after starting up again this year.

Tyler has now announced that he’s “banned in Australia” while tweeting “you won” to Collective Shout director Coralie Alison, suggesting that he has had a visa application denied.

Update, July 28: Mashable reports that the Department of Immigration and Border Protection has not yet denied Tyler a visa, stating that a decision has not yet been made on his current application.

“In cases where a person is assessed as representing a risk that they may vilify or incite discord, or otherwise represent a danger to the Australian community, a person may be refused a visa,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Tyler’s touring company, Frontier Touring, also maintained that his current application is still open.

“With respect to media reports that Tyler the Creator’s visa has been refused, Frontier would like to advise that this is not the case. The department for immigration has raised issues with the visa application but it has not been refused and Frontier will update ticket holders as soon as more information comes to hand,” the company wrote on Facebook.
