Coldplay are in talks to rescue a part of Kids Company following the charity’s sudden collapse.

The band are considering investing in Treehouse, a north London facility run by Kids Company which offered education and therapy to vulnerable children.

Last week Treehouse’s parent organisation was forced to shut down amid claims of poor financial management and allegations of sexual abuse.

Phil Harvey, Coldplay’s co-manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Treehouse’s work with children in great need over the past six years. It’s very early stages, but we’re not going to give up on the centre without looking at all options for the future.”

The band have donated nearly £10 million to the charity since 2007. Their own charitable foundation, JJ Van Mars, bought the Treehouse building in 2013 for £1.6 million, meaning that the building will not be sold to meet demands from creditors.

The Treehouse’s running costs could potentially be met by Coldplay’s £1.35 million annual donation, according to the Sunday Times. [via Independent]
