The White House has offered its take on Kanye West’s unexpected intention to run for president of the United States in 2020.

Kanye announced his presidential campaign with a dramatic mic drop after accepting the Video Vanguard award, saying: I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

The White House’s reaction came from press secretary Josh Earnest, who was traveling on Air Force One with the president to Alaska at the time. He said that they look “forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”
