The venue closed its doors for good on Monday.

New York venue Santos Party House has closed down the day after hosting the second night of Oi! Fest, a controversial punk festival with alleged links to Neo-Nazism.

The venue, which is co-owned by Andrew W.K., closed on Monday (May 30). According to local NYC news site DNAinfo, club manager Sean Kane said that the closure was because the club had decided not to renew its lease.

“It was a 10 year lease. Our lease is up and we’re not renewing it,” Kane told DNAinfo.

Santos Party House event co-ordinator Jackalyn Tipchaieuh said in an email sent to groups who had booked shows that May 29 was the venue’s last night.

“If you have an event after the previously mentioned date, please consider it cancelled,” the email said.

The venue has yet to issue an official statement on its closure, but its website is still listing events into June, and recent activity on its Twitter account suggest the decision was made in recent days.

Oi! Fest was moved to Santos Party House after the original venue, Black Bear Bar, cancelled the event after a social media campaign.

“[A promoter] brought us this event, with a short list of bands who would take part in the weekend, including Oxblood as a headliner, who did meet our booking standards,” Black Bear Bar said in a statement.

“It wasn’t until much later, and after much assurance to the contrary, that the problematic nature of this event was brought to our attention. Obviously we should have and take full responsibility for the lack of oversight.”

Queens rapper Despot, who co-owns Santos Party House with Andrew W.K., said on Twitter he had no prior knowledge that the event had been booked, and tried to have it pulled when he was made aware.
