Latest album from Dev Hynes to be released this year.

Back in April, Dev Hynes confirmed that he would be releasing a new Blood Orange album, Freetown Sound, later this year. The singer has now shared the Deana Lawson-designed artwork for the record, too, in a message on his Twitter page. Take a look below.

Hynes previously claimed that the album, which follows 2013’s Cupid Deluxe, has been inspired by the cut-and-paste aesthetic of the Dust Brothers’ work with the Beastie Boys. “It’s like my version of Paul’s Boutique. It kind of plays like a long mix tape,” he said, and also revealed that it explores ranging from Christianity to sexuality to displacement to life in the city. Its title refers to Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, where Hynes’ father is from.

It is still unknown when Freetown Sound will be released. In the three years since the last Blood Orange full-length album, Hynes scored the film Palo Alto and also releases stand alone tracks including ‘Sandra’s Smile’ and ‘Do You See My Skin Through the Flames?’.
