After our first taste of the new Blade Runner, the director hints at even more.

Earlier this week, the first teaser for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 debuted, leaving a lot to be uncovered when the film finally comes to theaters next fall. But perhaps the questions you’re looking to have answered might not even be addressed in the new movie, as Villeneuve has suggested their may be more sequels.

In an interview with Screen Daily, the Arrival director said: “I love sci-fi. I have two more ideas now that I would love to do. [And] Blade Runner could go on… we’ll see how this one goes.”

Villeneuve also noted that 2049 will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent films ever made. It is not necessarily lucrative to have an R rating because fewer people can see the movie in theaters, but the risk is attributed to the success of Deadpool which grossed $783M worldwide.
