There are a lot of festivals around the world offering lot of different things, but there’s only one that can boast a location right by the stunningly picturesque and myth-steeped lake of Loch Ness. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s the pun-tastic RockNess, and it takes place at Dores, Inverness, over the weekend June 12-14.

In keeping with the Loch’s legend, the line-up for RockNess 2009 is…monster. The Flaming Lips will bring their brand of ecstatic psyche-pop to the mainstage, along with carnival-house heavyweights Basement Jaxx, returning rave legends Orbital and the old-enough-to-know-better Prodigy. The Aliens, Super Furry Animals and Soulwax are among the other notable bands playing the main stages.Dance-wise, there’s plenty to get your teeth into: LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy will be spinning records with Pat Mahoney, while NUmbers’ Jackmaster (often referred to in FACT HQ as the best DJ in Britain) and the failsafe Erol Alkan and Optimo are also on board. There’s a Soma Records party featuring Funk D’Void, Octogen, Mark Henning, The Black Dog (live) and more, and an Ed Banger showcase with Busy P, DJ Mehdi, DJ Feadz and Krazy Baldhead.
