[Update: As of today, Telepathe, Fever Ray, Zomby, The Juan Maclean, múm and Riton have been added to the bill. In the Loop, if you will. Ah-har-har.]

The first confirmed acts for this year’s Loop Festival have been announced, with veteran bass-botherer Squarepusher – replete with eye-scorching live shows – set to headline the event.

Matthew Herbert (pictured) and his Big Band will launch the 2009 edition of Loop with a show at Brighton Dome on Friday 10th July. The festival proper takes place in the city’s Victoria Gardens on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July. Acts on board thus far include Kompakt star The Field, who’ll be playing tracks from his eagerly-awaited sophomore album, Yesterday & Today, plus astral folk types Tunng, nu-gaze geezers Sian Alice Group and promising young electro-pop pups We Have Band and Plugs, with many more still to be announced.

More information and tickets for this edition of the Loop Festival, the third to date, can be found at loopbrighton.com.
