Legendary 1960s psych unit Silver Apples have remixed romantic types Eaux.

Last we heard from Silver Apples’ head cadet Simeon, he was remixing Deerhoof’s ‘Mario’s Flaming Whiskers III’, something the band were evidently super-stoked about. He’s now had a stab at a track by London coldwavers Eaux, reworking electro-pop ballad ‘Snow’. Simeon’s remix – cannily dubbed ‘Sneaux Flake’ – knocks the original pleasantly out of whack. After an intro that sounds like a carousel going into meltdown, ‘Sneaux Flake’ settles into a woozy groove, spotted with mad professor SFX and carried some bass wobble apparently cooked up in a cauldron. Anyone who doesn’t have a soft spot for 1968 synth classic Silver Apples is mad, foolish, or both, and ‘Sneaux Flake’ shows that Silver Apples can still press buttons when required.
