It’s been four years since the last Fiery Furnaces LP, but both Friedberger siblings have kept busy with their respective solo pursuits.

Matthew Friedberger followed his colossal 2011-12 single series The Diabolical Principle with last year’s faintly ridiculous Matricidal Sons Of Bitches a 45-track OST for a non-existent horror flick. Eleanor, meanwhile, made her solo debut with 2011’s rich, classy Last Summer LP for Merge.

As Exclaim report, the longer-haired Friedberger will issue a new solo album in June. The niftily titled Personal Record will also arrive on Merge, and was produced by former DFA engineer Eric Broucek. Interestingly, the album was written in collaboration with author/troubadour John Wesley Harding, best known for a string of LPs for Sire in the early 1990s. Merge promise “a thoughtfully crafted tale of memory and place couched in the organic pop of her ’70s idols.” Friedberger, meanwhile, describes Personal Record as an album about the falling in love with music  and feeling “close to someone you barely know because you both happen to love the same record.”

Lead track ‘Stare At The Sun’ is available to download below in exchange for an email address. A kooky trailer video for the album is also below, featuring brief album snippets alongside “personal, yet entirely irrelevant, footage of my holiday”.

Personal Record is due on June 4, via Merge.
