Surgeon has announced the release of his first solo artist album in 10 years.

The Birmingham-orbiting techno perennial will drop Breaking The Frame via his own Dynamic Tension imprint later this year (precise release date TBC). It’s comprised of eight brand new productions.

From his rough-hewn, quietly visionary debut Communications – which was recorded at Mick ‘Scorn’ Harris’s studio and released on Regis’s Downwards imprint in 1991 – to his mid-period masterpiece Force + Form (Tresor, 1999), the album has often brought the best out of Surgeon, real name Anthony Child. His last LP proper was Body Request (Dynamic Tension, 2000), though since then there’s been the mixed singles comp Counterbalance Collection (Counterbalance, 2001), last year’s acclaimed Fabric 53 mix CD, not to mention a steady stream of single releases.
