Earlier this week, we reported on a posthumous J Dilla release on Mahogani Music.

Full details of the release are now out in the open [via Juno Plus]. Despite its billing as an EP, Dillatroit will be 12 tracks long, containing previously unreleased material from the still in-demand Detroit hip-hop legend, who passed away in 2006. It will be released on limited edition vinyl on May 25.

Its release on Moodymann’s Mahogani, a label mostly known for house music, may seem surprising, but it makes total sense: an old collaborator of Dilla’s, Andres (who FACT recently interviewed), releases regularly on the label, and Dilla’s bumpy brand of hip-hop shares more than a few qualities with Moodymann’s own productions.
