Some sterling experimental minds are collaborating on a new track in aid of Japanese tsunami victims.

As Pitchfork report, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon have collaborated with Yoko Ono for a new charity track, due early next month on Chimera Music. The 14 minute opus, ‘Early in The Morning’ will raise profits for Ashinaga Rainbow House, a charity building a victim support centre for victims of the 2011 tsunami in the Tohoku region of Japan.

Ono’s last release was 2009’s Between My Head And The Sky, the first ‘Plastic Ono Band’ release since the early Seventies. Sonic Youth’s status, meanwhile remains uncertain following news late last year that former golden couple Moore and Gordon had separated after 27 years of marriage.

‘Early In The Morning’ is due on July 3 as a digital download (none of Ono’s blood secreted in this one, then)
